The newest album from Dunderpatrullen!
Dunderpatrullen consists of four guys with a sense of music, film and humor. The founders of the Internet phenomenon Krull Productions took a step further and together they began to throw together a self-composed, thundering bitpop-thump. Reviewers have likened Dunderpatrullen music to “Peter Rabbit at a rave”, or as they choose to describe it, “a bit like Kraftwerk on speed and raspberry soda.”
With melodic, fleshy base and danceable samples that mix everything from sharp, crackling sound waves from the Gameboy and Commodore 64, to banjo and distorted mouth harp. The group’s song “Oj! Vilken Överraskning!” got 1 million views on YouTube during six months. These successes have led to an exciting collaboration with TV guru Adam Alsing and media profile Daniel Breitholtz, which has now taken the boys under their warm protective wings.

by Trey Frey
Trey Freys first installment on Data Airlines is a three track EP. Snippets available on soundcloud: soundcloud.com/treyfrey/tres-frais-data-airlines-teaser Vinyl contains six tracks including remixes by Dubmood, Sabrepulse and Henry Homesweet. Digital release also includes remixes by Zabutom, Shirobon, Roboctopus and Tri Angels.
Beginning in 2010, Trey Frey quickly shot to relative fame on 8bitcollective with his brand of euphoric and masterfully-programmed chiptune, written using LSDJ on original Nintendo Gameboy DMGs. Hailing from West Virginia (US), Trey went on to release two self-titled full lengths, an EP on Pxl-Bot, appear on countless compilations and play multiple festivals and shows across the US. More recently, Trey co-founded the label ‘Thebasebit recordings’ before releasing his third full length, ‘Refresh’, on it. ‘Refresh’ contains many of the enraptured mixtures of electronic dance music and chiptune that led to his popularity to begin with, and marks a milestone as ‘TheBaseBit recordings’ second ever release.

True to the .mpegasus spirit, Quixotica is a journey across time and between genres. From the off-kilter funk of “Breakdown” to the upbeat anthemic pop of “Homespace” no musical influence is left unheeded. “Clockwork” builds slowly and rhythmically to a swirling maelstrom of tones and beats, before “Different” locks things down to a 4/4 beat and a driving bassline. “EjectTape” is a love letter to those 80s nights of recording the music direct from Spectrum 128k to cassette, while “Fragments” shimmers delicately at sunset. “Gaussflux” keeps things wonky, “Instanced” evokes West Coast Hip Hop, all before the transcendent “JustLetGo” spans an emotional arc from hope to expectation to emergence.
.mpegasus is rather partial to beeps. His sound is drawn from the 8-bit era of home computers like the Spectrum and c64, mixed with heavy bass and crunchy drums to leave each track existing in a temporal limbo between the past and the future. It sounds weird, is what I’m getting at. Melody reigns supreme here, but more than ever you might find the ground a bit wobbly underfoot.
.mpegasus has recently played venues such as SuperWarehouse, GamerDisco and the mighty SuperByte Festival, and thus far no one has booed. This is probably a good sign.

PIZZAMAKESMUSIC ZERO is a 20 Track Chiptune Album, the third entry in the Pizzamakesmusic series, containing songs from a range of independent video games as well as previously released since turned defunct albums.
Starting out with the single headliner Dusk, it follows with a double triplet switching back and forth between Platinum, Silver, Gold and the Foreskin Fusion Soundtrack. After getting another two game soundtracks out of the way with Down and ROAD MAN, the album’s going through a mix of four new and old feature tracks, one of which being accidentally reminiscent of a particular type of exploration game of days gone by. After a longish ambient piece from the titular The Third Kind, the album goes all out with the coming four tracks, until being closed with the soundtrack to my very first game, hence ZERO. The Other Definitive Pizza Experience.

The continuation of the Quixotica anthology.
Ten more tracks from the time-hopping adventures of .mpegasus. Beginning in contemplative repose as we ponder Knowledge, before slamming headlong into the mathematical dance of LogicGate, backed with the sleaze-funk of Mutagenie. Nostromos is a world of danger so tread lightly - one false move and you’ll be whisked off to the mysterious right-angled dimension of Orthogony from which the only escape is a flight through PixlSpace. Quixotica, the belated title track, spits 80s fire in all directions and is guaranteed to cause convulsions. A cure is available at the Radmarket, where strange merchants offer even stranger trinkets, but linger too long and you’ll be SIGNALost, disconnected from the metaverse in a hopeless miasma of chaos and rude basslines. Tryanglez is also quite good.
