This whole project with Groupees was another collaboration that I’d been waiting to do for quite sometime; turns out, so had they! The whole process was an absolute joy, as was this resultant ‘Bundle of WIN’ compilation. Special thanks to Christian Blunda and the Groupees team. And, of course, as usual round of thanks to the participating artists! Until the next crazy venture, #OnwardAndUpward!
And oh, happy holidays! <3 ^_^ <3

In his sophomore album “LISTENCORE Vol I”, Ap0c uses Famicom audio to explore the struggle of our inner artists. Waves of crippling self doubt juxtaposed by triumphant victory emanate across all 7 tracks, culminating in a journey across the deep inner subconscious and back to harsh reality of daily life. This sarcastic, biting, and yet hopeful journey strives to put notes to that feeling of “not being good enough”- for others, and for our greatest critic: ourselves.
This EP took an incredible amount of effort to finish and I’m very grateful to a lot of people, especially my wife Jinah, who has probably heard every track at last 50-60 times while I suffered and toiled about every pitch and choice - I love you. A special thanks also to chiptune inspirational friend-types who deal with my constant compla.. I mean.. err… observations: Remy, Paul Weinstein, Josh Cianculli, Brandon Hood, Ricardo Almonte, Sean Callahan, Joey Mariano, Dan Davis, and all you crazy folks at Battle of the Bits; and to my colleagues at Brave Wave- Alex Mauer, Keiji Yamagishi, Masashi Kageyama, Mohammed Taher - thanks for inspiring me to be my best. Also thanks for cool programmers Javed Miah (Brock Crocodile) and Adam Mowery (Curse of the Crescent Isle DX) for their support.

People aren’t perfect. Why then should music, as an expression of our emotions and experiences, need to be perfect?
Arrival is an expression of my experiences living in France for almost two years. It was inspired by the way I changed as a person during my time there and the strange, conflicting emotions of returning to my ‘home’ country. It feels like losing a close friend. In memory, those experiences already seem like they happened in a dream, but I’m sure their imprint and impact will last for the rest of my life.
Before our return, people asked us if we were looking forward to coming back to Australia, and we were afraid to admit that actually we weren’t. Although France had its share of problems, we’d grown very fond of the place, with its amazing beauty, delicious food, relaxed way of life and friendly and helpful people—we miss it very much.
freezedream is an Australian underground electronic music artist. In his spare time he creates emotive, organic digital music that causes one to reflect on life and conjures up vivid visual dreamscapes.
He loves the challenge of limitation and experimentation and is learning to embrace the imperfect.

For Astronauts and Satellites was created in 2013. Initially the brainchild of Ian, Mike and Matt soon joined him in experimenting with these nostalgic sounds, spending the remainder of the year, and early 2014, delving into the shadowy world of ‘Chiptune’ music and perfecting their first, self-titled, release. The trio explore the limited capabilities of the hardware with beautifully woven, texturally rich guitars, and live drums blend seamlessly with electronic percussion to create a sound both nostalgic and modern.
With the release of their self-titled, debut, album in the summer of 2014, the band’s captivating sound promises a unique live experience; one they aim to take all over the UK to music fans waiting for something new to get excited about.

This is the musical tale of an epic gaming journey, through the dangers and wonders of the unknown, on a mission to save the world before it disappears into nothingness and oblivion. Take your high-energy chiprock nostalgia powered ship through 4 stages of lightspeed parallax harmony, and beat 4 gigantic bosses of melodic bullet hell.
Prime Legacy is the soundtrack to a fictional STG, in the glory of those games, my favorite genre ever. The story it tells is very ambiguous, as one can tell from the song titles, and embeds possible deeper meaning. It is left open to interpretation on purpose. It’s up to you to let your imagination go wild while listening to it !

Thanks to Alex Kelly of Pxl-Bot, Julie Dull (aka braverbeast) for helping to supply the art and inspiration for Silver Planet, and everyone in the chiptune community for continuing to give me a chance to express my music.

First track on the album, ‘Illjoy‘ sold me as soon as I hit play. This track explodes out of the gate, managing to perfectly intertwine a deep, vibrating bassline with a silky smooth sliding mid line. The melody at this point is so creamy that it seamlessly glides into the forefront of the soundscape. While not loud, they’re certainly proud and given a chance to show up just how expertly their instrumentation is programmed. Even though the bass fades into a supporting role, the way they almost bubble when combined with Vince’s supremely constructed noise snares is to be admired and aspired to.
The track is broken up by a quiet percussion section at roughly the half-way point. It is truly a beautiful interlude, sounding to me like an electronic mix of the essences of wood blocks and beat boxing. The thematic change is just enough to catch one’s attention, but not so dramatic as to break the flow of the track. It leaves you primed for the slow build into an energetic breakdown that begins the final third of the track. This is a well executed stylistic fake out. The drop initially had me prepped for the track to go out guns blazing. Instead, those excellent wood blocks and snares returned to treat me to a chiller roll to the fade out.

Once upon a time there was a peaceful and numb world, it was all so boring… until the invasion began. The Blast Processor may have made some bullet holes, but it also made that world wake up.
This album is my repay for a lot of things and people I met in my life and made my mindset what it is now (a mess of beautiful gamey musicy stuff). Starting from my Genesis console when I was a kid, the games I played then, the people that I met who shared the love for that console and that sound the people that introduced me to the pure YM2612 music creation, the people that made me love and make chiptunes and the people that makes the tools so that we arttists can burst out all that love into music.

2 years after the initial release, The Last Dream: Definitive Edition expands and completes the vision of the original EP - further exploring haunting dreams and opening vaults of emotion that have been locked away for too long. The album has been carefully and painstakingly reordered into its full intended format and all the original tracks have received complete overhauls.
At 13 tracks, the remixed “Definitive Edition” of the album also adds many since completed works-in-progress that did not make the cut for the original release - including some that were exclusive only to the physical CD release - in order to create a sobering, somber, and ultimately hopeful LP that truly represents the intended mindset and tone of the artist.
I truly hope you enjoy this definitive release!
