Hello friends! I am happy to present to you my EP ‘Back Tracking’.
In this release i journey back into the sounds of Chiptune (Using a Commodore 64 and a Gameboy) and blend it with futuristic electronic sounds!
It has been a lot of fun to make and a big thanks to everyone who has supported my music and to my friends and family, you are all a great inspiration.
I hope you enjoy the music! :)
Shirobon is a 22 year old electronic musician from London.
From 2006 he made music using a Game Boy (known as chiptune) and released the albums ‘Golden Apples’ and ‘Connected’. From 2009 he started experimenting with other styles of music and learning about the use of synthesizers and modern production techniques, leading to the release of electronic album ‘22:22’ in 2012.
Shirobon has now gone back to his chiptune roots and is set to release his new EP ‘Back Tracking’ using the sounds of the Game Boy, Commodore 64 and synthesizers.

Each track was made using at least one Gameboy AGS or DMG running a variation of the program LSDJ. Combined with an Arduinoboy, various other hardware was used including: a Roland Gaia, Arturia MiniBrute, Korg Microkorg, Yamaha PSR-500, Korg ES-1 MKII, Korg mini KP, KP3, and KP4.

Maverick is a chaser ride back to my childhood when I would play Mega Man X with my big bro. Tracking these songs brought back some of the feelings of wonder and dread from the MMX series. It was a challenge working complex 16-bit melodies into one LSDj cart but I some how pulled it off. My hope was to pay homage to the composers who inspired me.

Encounters is the debut album from Zantilla aka Adrian Shegstad, that focuses on J. Allen Hynek’s Scale of Close Encounters which relates to everything from UFO sightings, to abductions, and even communication between humans and extraterrestrial beings.
To paint this musical picture, Adrian chose a wide array of FM sounds, with some 2A03 additions. This, in combination with modern metal recording techniques and live drum sounds, give Encounters a very rich sonic palette using simple textures.
Imagine a sci-fi clash of modern progressive metal, and electronic synth wizardry to bring you a chiptune inspired storm of wanky leads, djenty synths, killer drums, and FM sex. Zantilla is the aftermath.

MeowMeow & BowWow is the second EP in the series of video game tribute albums by Dj CUTMAN and Spamtron. Their first collaboration was Bagu and the Riverman, which later became the seed for The Triforce of Bass. Now, the duo has turned their focus to the classic title for Nintendo Gameboy, Link’s Awakening.
Dj CUTMAN writes: We selected seven songs that represented the significant steps in Link’s journey, from awakening on the mysterious island of Koholint, to rediscovering his legendary weapon, traversing the country side, traveling through forests and dungeons, and climbing a mountain to meet the fabled Wind Fish.
If you’re familiar with the game, you’ll take extra pleasure in listening to the album in-sequence. If you didn’t play Link’s Awakening, I hope you can still derive the sense of adventure and excitement the game created for me.

The narratively driven tracks of this release were written over a span of several years - from about 2008 to 2012. Track 6 was a 48-hr challenge from the fantastic Little-Scale and includes vocals from the Drunken Hokkaido Chamber Choir in addition to some Atari Punk Console. All tracks were tracked on and recorded from LSDJ on DMG and GBC with the exception of Murky Marsh Hustle which was tracked on and recorded from Adlib Tracker on a Libretto.
